Abstract

The paper explores the significance of environmental literacy in contemporary society and advocates for its promotion through educational systems. It argues that environmental literacy is not merely an academic pursuit but a critical skill set necessary for informed decision-making and sustainable living. The abstract examines various educational approaches that can enhance environmental literacy, including interdisciplinary curricula, outdoor education, and community-based learning. It emphasizes the role of educators in fostering a sense of ecological responsibility among students and the importance of integrating environmental issues into all levels of the school curriculum. The paper further discusses the challenges faced in integrating environmental education and suggests strategies for overcoming them. Ultimately, it underscores the need for a holistic approach to education that cultivates environmental literacy as a foundational component for a sustainable future.
